I thank you much for your praise
for a long time I had a garden on which I had many large plants, I have to build about 8 years old and has been focused on the great south (a lot of dry stone slope). Unfortunately, it has not, and most plants have been destroyed by the current owner of the slope built terraces. Now his own garden that I started to work before 3 years. It is not very good (450 m / m - USDA5B) but I do it away again and began to buy new plants, now I have discontinued many subtropical plants mainly in character. Most of the Czech Republic is USDA6 somewhere and 7 but my garden is very high. Palma and yucca are placed already 3 years in the country outside and grow well because the last 2 years have been a lot of warm winters.

I thought that Vernon is more warm, I saw pictures recently from the Botanical Garden in vancouveru and grow there really amazing plants. Vancouver is about USDA7. I watched this on google earth and vernon be quite close.
I can experiment with many plants as I buy it at wholesale prices. For example, Trachycarpus f. and yucca rostrata strain 120 centimeters - 80 euros.

80 Euros is $120 Cdn for a 120 cm (47-inch) Y.rostrata...I'd pay that if I could find one that size.

Vancouver's Zone 7 seems more than 400 km away during Vernon's Arctic outflows from the Northwest during winter.

For a number of years, we had milder winters typical of Zone 5 or 6, or 6b.
But all it takes is five days of -19C to kill many plants dead, especially when there is little snow cover.

Just so we are on the same page Vancouver near the water is a zone 8b places inland in the Fraser valley such as Abbotsford and Chilliwack are a zone 7b.

I watched the post here in the pictures - the palm trees in vancouver and it's really amazing, a beautiful specimens Tf and Tw, I envy such a very excellent conditions for cultivation (8b) We have in Europe (USDA8) about 800 km from us (north italy )
