Here are some recent pics of the yard.
Things are just starting to take off now.

Yellow Daylilies that are very fragrant and pinapple guava trees
Yucca Recurv. Made it through the winter no probs
Yucca Elata that faired well
The unknown yucca. Does anyone know what type this is?

The front yard male trachy in full bloom
My Chamaedorea Radicalis showing some winter damage but also showing two new shoots
Tree fern. I did not protect this and it made it through one of our worst winters. Now if it could only grow quicker
My Chamaedorea microspadix. Just planted in the ground but they survived in an unheated greenhouse so we will see.
Chamaedorea Radicalis I bought just recently

Wow,did you get any snow at all up there???
Everything looks great!
I BEG BEG BEG you, can I have some Fortunei seeds??????
Oh, Wes, what a photo smorgasbord!!! 😮
WOW.
Is Brahea reported to be better than Trachy for winter hardiness?
Nice colour on it.
Love that Musa basjoo with the long stem. How old is it?
And yes, THAT most stunning pic I've ever ever ever seen...up into the Trachy. 🙂
Truly spectacular, Wes.
That tree fern looks like it'll take over your yard soon...
Nice azalea! and your palms seem to have overwintered very well indeed
considering it was such a bad (and long) winter.
And that Meyer lemon!!!! I can see the ad now: "lemon grocer in West Van" 🙂
Pineapple guava...does it get real tall?
Love the large bark mulch...looks really good.
That Yucca elata is a delicate looking plant...very attractive.
And while I'm the LAST person to know a plant name, isn't that "unknown yucca" simply one of the common Yucca (rostrata, I think????) Every nursery/store sells them...usually two "heads" on a woody trunk. Looks similar.
But I'll leave that to more experienced folks here.
Things look wonderful at your place Wes.
Thanks for the pics!

We get very liitle snow down by the water. I had a couple of inches at the end of Nov and an inch in Jan,
We have many years with no snow at all.
Barb, If I open the lemon grocery store maybe we can make lemonade and lemon pies too.
Knnn,
The tree fern is a Dicksonia Antarctica
Kansas,
send me your address and I will send you some.
Thanks everyone.

Brahea Armata is not as hardy as T. Fortunei but it is growing up my list as one of the hardiest. I was at Barrie's and his made it fine through the winter also.
My pinaplle guava's are about six feet tall and growing. I am not sure how tall they get but I hope not that much taller. They can be pruned but I am waiting for it to flower first before I trim it.
Musa basjoo are both been through their third winter.

Both musa are 3 years old? 😯 I really really like that trunked one. Just a matter of taking the leaves off as they push new leaves, I suppose?

Actually,
Those are two different bananas and both are trunked becuase the winter fries the leaves so I cut them off and wrap the trunks with them for extra protection. hence the bare looking trunk this time if year.
That is a healthy looking guava. My lower leaves have fallen off but I would say mine is quite a bit taller.

Thanks Wes for the explanation.
That makes sense.
Pineapple guava flowers are beautiful...maybe take a pic when yours are out.
We'd love to see it.
