Very nice pics Steve which show the considerable variation among leaves of Hyophorbe.
I think I read there are 3 types of H., and you've got 'em.
The bottle palm's leaves are quite coarse when compared to its cousin the Spindle.
And that difference appears to remain, as evidenced by my new Bottle and the Spindle which I've had for abt 2 years.
At first glance, the Champagne frond resembled the juvenile leaf of my C.panzhihuaensis! Very neat and "ordered".
The indica is so different again from its H. cousins.
It'll be great to watch these 3 grow up.

Thanks Barb,
There are a total of 5 species in the Hyophorbe genus, but for all purposes, three are probably all I will see in my lifetime.
The others are,
Hyophorbe amaricaulis, Which is confined to one surviving specimen in the Curepipe Botanic Gardens on the island of Mauritius. (has never set viable seed)
Hyophorbe vaughanii, Also from Mauritius, it's numbers & habitat are dwindling, and is rarely seen in cultivation.

Steve,
one surviving specimen
how very sad.
There'd be many more extinct if it weren't for plant lovers.
Having another look at my hyophorbe, excising the old leaf sheaths will be a risky process.
The nursery appears to have used an exacto knife...no scissors or pruners could get that close.
Immense risk to the closely underlying "bottle".
I'll wait a few years until you've had to do it 😀 (and explain the process).

Barb,
Going to be a while till I have to worry about doing that, but I'll let you know 😀
Here's a couple photos of the larger Spindles,
This one is hard to see, it's in a container against the back wall.
(burned off most of the fronds this summer, just starting to recover)
I rescued this one from the box stores before it was left out in the cold, planted it in the corner of the GH, just starting to send up a new spear. 8)

Steve,
My Triangles had terrible leaf burn in Spring, even from only 2-3 hours of morning sun.
They're also just coming back now pushing new spears.
The spindle against your back wall has certainly shot up since I last saw a pic. 😯
