I almost bought this very house lot in Tortola BVI 5 years ago for 60K. Look what's there now, I had the right connections at that time too! I should have moved there instead of building this house. I did manage to find the girl of my dreams here though 😀 Who know I might retire there after all. It's funny I have a video of this place before the house was there.

I just looked up Vernon, BC. Wow! I assumed you were on Vancouver island near Victoria as that is where I associate palms in BC (I was last there in 1992). I was last in your part of BC in 1982 when driving from Oregon to Banff for skiing. Given that, I associate it with cold weather and lots of snow. I'll read your posts differently now.

Wow Erik! I'm surprised with Belize! It looked fine in 2007! Gotta love the tropics. No, BVI is not in the hurricane zone at all? You should see how fast things come back there from 150mph winds. I spent 2 weeks there, one of my best vacations ever. I wish I had the money back for a week of it 😀

"Natural hazards in Belize include hurricanes (mostly in the late Atlantic hurricane season, September to December) and coastal flooding, especially in the south.

There was a period of 20 years that Belize was considered as a hurricane-free zone by many until Hurricane Mitch (October 1998) caused quite a stir and gave rise to hurricane awareness and the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO). Two years later Tropical Storm Chantal and Hurricane Keith did much to put the country on the hurricane map. In 2001, Hurricane Iris swept through the southern part of Belize causing damage that ranged in the hundreds of millions due largely to wiping away the banana industry, crippling the citrus and tourism in the area. Six years later, the fury of Category Five Dean landed on the Yucatan coast at Mahahual but Corozal, on northern Belize, was not spared the brunt of reportedly Category 3 to 4 winds. The latter did tens of millions in damages, especially to the infantile papaya industry and to a lesser extent to the endemic sugar cane industry.

Nice dream there Barb, shared by many here. The lottery just isn't paying out like they advertise!
