I thought I'd pass along a few photos from my walk through an area about to be developed. When you hear the word "developed" it's not as bad as it sounds. This project is leaving as much of the natural surroundings as possible.

This area is called the Foothills and is located in Lantzville, British Columbia which is on the eastern shores of Vancouver Island about 75 miles north of Victoria. At this point, blasting has made way for roads and the clearing for property sites. No homes have been built yet in the Foothills but 750 are planned. This area overlooks Nanoose Bay to the north, Lantzville and Nanaimo to the south. The British Columbia mainland in visible across the Strait of Georgia some 30 miles away with the coast mountain range clearly visible. The Winchelsea Islands are seen just off shore and are covered in native cacti (Opuntia fragalis). On future excursions I'll take pics of the native plants and vegetation... Enjoy.
