Had a job at a customers house today. He was cleaning his yard & cut his drop going to his house trying to clean around his trees. I fixed his drop & told him he had some nice Sabal Palmettos, he said you want that one, I'm sick of mowing around it & dug it right up for me. Top of the fronds are about 10 ft tall. Did a little root pruning & popped it right in the ground when I got home...
LUCKY!!!!
I sure do wish I was more into Palms when I went to Pensacola to Supervise "Ivan". I probably could have gotten some good stuff. I tell you one thing, the people in Pensacola, when it comes to CATV (or anything else really) are the kindest, most generous folks. I LOVED the people down there.
Nice freebie. If only that would happen around here.
Did your trachy seeds from my place germinate yet?

Nice score Laaz! I was always under the impression Sabal roots where sensitive to root disturbance and certainly root pruning?
Cheers, Barrie.
Hey Wes none popped yet, still waiting.
Barrie all the large Sabal's are hurricane cut & root pruned before being wrapped. I pruned it & set in in a 55 gal drum with root hormones until I got home tonight.
I will have to take some photos from the local palm nursery.
Very nice palm.
You lucky dog.

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps
Lucky dog indeed!
People only give me their already-dead stuff.
Guess they know I'm doing a dump run 🙄

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
Very nice. 🙂
