Got some new bigger pots on sale today. Transplanted my one Trachy and my Christmas. Trachy had a HUGE nest of ants, insane....I think I got most of them. The palm it's self is doing really good, new fan ever 2 weeks or so.

Enjoy,

Bismark's new frond

Christmas palms new home

Trachys new pot (the one with the ant nest)

The big washy still thriving.

My coconut, new frond and just cut the second old frond off

Good looking palms. If you keep the Trachy moist, the ants will move somewhere else.

Allen

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps

Hey Allen,

Thanks. We'll see how good they look after winter. I think all or most of the ants jumped ship. I left the whole thing out of the new pot for a hour and when I went back there were no more running around. I am going to get ant traps.

DO you know bananas? If so go to that section of the site and check out my other post, if you didn't already.

Thanks

What are your plans for the Christmas Palm this winter? I have one almost the size of yours and it's a good 2' taller than the ceiling in my house.

Not the pot I was expecting........

Winter?? I am not expecting a winter here near Toronto. I will not allow it!! Really, I am not sure what I am going to do. Either a local greenhouse or there is a couple of car dealerships in the area with 2 story show bays that I may put it in. If all else fails, I have a spot in my home that it will fit but there is little direct sun and it would kinda be in the way so I don't know right now.
