Barrie the palm shop was closed today, so I had to take some shots from outside but here is how most palms are sold down here. BTW this place is about the most expensive place in town...

If this place plants them for you, they come with a one year warranty. Heres where the ones that didn't make it end up...

A bunch of Chamaerops humilis.

This is a monster sago. It is down the street from a buddy of mine. It has about 7 ft of clear trunk.

About a 50 ft Washy Robusta.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Great pics Todd 😀 It's interesting to see the Sabal palms in that one photo with nearly nothing for roots! I'd imagine until they root down again it would be suceptable to being blown down. All the shots are amazing and especially the Sago. Something like that would be very expensive to replace if you could find one that size.
Thanks a million for the awesomw pics. I hope everyone enjoys them as much as I do 😀 .

Cheers, Barrie.

P.S. I'll have to post a few from around here when I hit the summer garden tour in early August.

Todd it`s a good thing there isn`t a nursery selling that size of palms here. I don`t think I could resist the temptation to buy some of those larger palms. How old do you think that monster W. filifera is? Does the city do any maintenance for the dead fronds on the palms? Very nice! Charleston is now on our list of places to visit along with the rest of U.S. east coast.

Barrie : The Sabals are propped up with 2x4 braces until they settle in most often.

Dean : Many Sabal's fail when field grown / hurricane cut / replanted... If the location in not prepared correctly the trees just die off. I'm in zone 9a.

John : Yes the city trims the Sabals every spring. No idea on the age of the Filifera.... If your talking about trimming the Filifera, that is on McDonalds property & they would be responsible for having it trimmed...

BTW I don't know if anyone noticed, but the Chamaerops humilis in the pic above are loaded up with seed.

Beautiful harbour frontage road.
Thanks for the pics.

Ooooh, the palms in that nursery. Drool.

Monster trunk diameters on sago and filifera! 😯
