Our local nursery chain used to have many many palms in stock at this time of year.
One of my fav places to go during gloomy winter days, wandering around their GH.

Dropped in the other day to see what I could buy with my Christmas gift certificate.

Apart from the Trachies in the background of pic 2, this is all the palms they had! 😯

Mexican Fan Palm and European Fan Palm

The clerk said they'd be getting more palms "likely in April or May"... 🙄 🙄 🙄

Oh...and the price? $300.00 each.
Too rich for my gift certificate!

What a disappointment.

Barb that is very expensive for very healthy looking palms. Art Knapps plantland? What there a price on the Trachies? Is there a pic of the Mexican fan palm? I`m curious as to what it looks like for $300.00. Nice pics.

John, yup Knapps in Vernon.

Those trachies aren't as big as they appear.
They're sitting on the second shelf, can't remember price.

The first pic is the Mexican Fan Palm, the second the European Fan Palm (according to each label, anyway).

I may have to make a trip back to their subsidiary in your area, John.

Those pics are both of Med. fan palms. They defintely mislabled one of them a Mexican fan palm or "W. robusta". You can see the suckers coming out from the main trunk on both pictured. Nice looking palms just way overpriced.

It's always nice to visit a greenhouse in winter. I'm sure stocks are down since economy is not very robust. You'll need to purchase a couple $300 palms to keep their business going!

Barb, if you are making a choice the first one (a silver one) would be more preferable. Or pick up a smallest if they have any 🙄

Agreed.

Those were the only palms they had, other than the Trachies (which I don't need...have enough!)

I'd love that blue one, but $300 is way too rich for my gift certificate.
Might end up having to buying annuals with it... :angry7:

I love the smell of the air in GHs during winter...

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.
