We've got numerous new members, so let's have some fun.

Post a pic from anywhere...from anyone (remember photo credit).
Give the link too, so we have some surfing sites for winter.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Here are a few of my favorites. If you've read my posts you know that I find W. robusta rather unappealing. However, the more robust, hardier, 'rougher' W. filifera, I find quite exquisite!
From natural habitat, quite a sight to see in the middle of the desert. Moapa, NV.
<img src=" " alt="Moapa4">
Ya, they're pretty tough.
<img src=" " alt="Moapa5">

My other favorite palm is a well grown Sabal palmetto. This is probably due to family trips to FLA as a youngster... Some habitat shots from South FLA (sorry for the orientation):
<img src=" " alt="palmettoandyucca">

(Is the palm in the middle there S. palmetto? I don't know that it is...)

I love palms at sunset at the beach. These are backlit, but the foreground makes it a favorite shot for me.

The is the "split" on Caye Caulker, Belize. The little village had an economy based on coconut harvest for 100 years until they discovered they could make a living selling lobster about 50 yrs ago. Tourism has been taking off for the past decade.

Hi Guys,

Butia yatay. Love this majestic palm, among dozens of others. This picture (not the best, sorry) is from my trip to South America last fall. This specimen lives in the Buenos Aires Botanical Garden (whose official name in Spanish is Jardín Botánico Carlos Thays de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires).

By the way Barb, is your Trachy staying out this winter? Would love to see some pics!

Thanks!

Duncan

Hi Barb,

If only wives could be so supportive of palm obsessions! Seriously, that is one cool set-up. That will be gold in your relatively warm climate! Nice work...thanks for the link!

And for those who can't decide, here's a site where you just place your cursor OVER a palm name (but don't click), and the picture pops up.

Aaron thanks for that fabulous link.

Great palm pics. Wow!

And those Chorisia (kapok trees) are stunning.
