I was very impressed at the desert garden in Calgary thats been started up and shown in these forums. I'm going to be creating a whole second garden in my front yard that will be all desert plants. This Yucca filamentosa is the first of many but its in my non-desert garden. It looks too tropical with the colored leaves. But I bought it for 15 bucks and its flowering!! It has a little trunk also, its about 1.5 inches.

Hi Nate,
Thanks again for the compliments on my desert garden. Best of luck with your endeavor. Can't wait to see the pics! You guys, as with most summers, have had the heat advantage over Calgary which bodes well for your eventual desert plants.

That's a nice yucca, gigantic flower stem!
It's obviously happy to get into the ground.
Will look forward to seeing your new desert area.
