I don't know what they were thinking.
I've never dealt with this nursery because it is some distance from home. I was out on a drive north west of Spruce Grove and saw the nursery's sign. I had never gone in before, but thought what the hell. I haven't seen buddleia around Edmonton before. Most zone 5 plants don't do well around here unless we get a lot of snow. So when the opportunity was there I bought 6 of them without any idea where I was going to plant them. 😳

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps
Nice that they had all those colours in stock.
The nursery was partly right. They should've said (because it's Edmonton), wait until early April to hack them down to the ground. They're probably worried people would cut them down in the Fall, which opens the canes to freezing right down through the roots. I only do that if one is growing as a volunteer where I don't want it. If there's no snow cover, they generally croak.
But with a good amount of snow even those pull through.
And Allen, that's what makes you a gardener.
God, I've come home from a road trip, three people jammed in the front seat, 'coz the back seat and the trunk were full of plants, and I had no idea where ANY of those plants were going! 😆 😆
