Would have been a monster this summer with all the rain-closing in on 8"for June now with anywhere from 2-5" forecast over the next 3 days.
If they are small I would try shading them during the warm part of the day(12-3pm)Keep them soaked too,they will recover quickly.

When you think about how much mass the soil has it seems unlikely the temp would go up much...soil is not a great conductor of heat...I think some 2" ...
