I did notice the soft ground went down to about a foot after I hit frozen ground. Seemed good for plants that had small roots.
Is there any bulbs (Crocus,Tulips)? Small conifers? anything?
This week they are calling for 20C soon so it could go down 2 or 3 feet?
I have transplanted trees before in late march but I need some small plants or flowers or small conifers.
Because I do not know what your weather is like there, it is difficult to suggest anything. I know I planted a few trachycarpus fortunei seedlings today but I do not have to worry about freezes anymore.
I would try crocuses or snowflakes for starters.
Good luck.

Thanks for some help. Those should be great for now.
yuccaman, seems your weather's about the same as ours (except today is bloody cold, even tho banner says +9...maybe in my kitchen! -5C tonite). Brrrr.
I'm a conifer nut, and very early spring is perfect for planting things like (my favorites) mugo pines, dwarf spruces, etc.
Pardon lousy pics, old camera.
