Rogue root on ponytail?

Probably not a big deal, but where caudex damage existed, a root has emerged.
Should I pile soil up over it? or leave it as is?
Looks like it used to be planted deeper 😕

Barb, if that were my plant, I would cut off the root and treat the wounded area with fungicide.
