I finally ordered couple big leaf Rhododendrons for cold hardy testing in my climate. They are beauties.

Here's Rhododendron rex.........when mature it has 18 inch long leaves. 😯

Here's Rhododendron rex ssp. fictolacteum.

Solid. I am really interested to hear how they fare down there! I think I told you that I'm getting a cataw x rex hybrid. Probably the closest that I'll be able to get to the real thing!

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Hi Paul

the lights are on the same circuit as my fish pond heater........I had that plugged in for 4 to 5 weeks at least. A fellow up in Hopkinton, MA (was zone 5b, now 6a) lost a R. rex last fall.....likely from summer heat stress....it was 5 feet tall. It appears summer heat is more of an issue in our area than our cold.
