I just received an order from BC, and unpacked/planted a pair of Yuzus and a m/f pair of Saanichton kiwis (they're the same fuzzy ones which are at the grocery store, but are a bit hardier). All of the plants are 1 gallon size.
Hopefully I can harvest some fruit from both types in about 3 years! 😆

Hi Cameron,
great plants......what zone are they rated? Will you protect?

Thanks, Tim! I think they're both rated for a zone 7a, although there is a lot of different info out there. I'm definitely protecting them during the winter! If they survive the first winter I'll set the kiwis up with proper stakes, etc.

Great looking mail order plants, Cameron.
Obviously ordered from a good company.
Looked up Yuzu citrus.
It's also big in the essential oils market.
And SAKE...
Cool!

Hi Cameron,
I started some of your seed tonight.....I've been way too busy......I would like to have started 1st week of May but I sowed the Protea and Callistemon tonight. Tomorrow I'll get to the other seeds. Sowing late may have worked out since it's been cloudy and cool all of May.....not good for seed starting.

Tim, that's great to hear! You might have some Callistemon coming up by Monday! 😀

Good for you! 😀
I have had a potted Yuzu for about a year now. It just sat there and did nothing, neither grow nor die. Lo and behold, it flowered late winter. Now its flowering like crazy, flushing, and there are about 7 Yuzus hanging on it.
I was going to plant it outside, but am balking. I look forward to seeing how yours does. You are correct that hardiness info is all over the map.
Thanks! You should try to make good use out of your Yuzu fruit 😆

My sister sent me some from California and I can verify that they go well with lager beer. Corona and Yuzu, what's not to love? 🙂
And here's what a few -5 C nights can do to kiwis 😆
I've now mulched them, and will be protecting them soon!

Hi Cameron,
thanks for the update. The Yuzu's didn't grow much this season?? I hope you protect.....they might die when little like that??
