Those Pachypodiums (pachipodii? 😆 ) have grown so much since last year.
So tropical looking that these could indeed "double" as y.rostrata--albeit spiny--for those of us who are impatient.

Before my big pachypodium died a couple of years ago, I noticed it held its head of leaves virtually year round as it was in the house during winter.
That's probably why yours are making such growth spurts to put out more/new leaves?

Probably the nutrient rich fish-water too!

I've tried them both ways, if they hold their leaves during the winter, they start growing earlier in the season.

I tried to slow mine down a little by letting them go dormant last winter, don't really think it is going to make a difference 😀
( You should see the fish now, they are about 1' long, how large do goldfish grow ❓

Your fish are a foot long? 😯
I've heard that goldfish grow according to the size of the pond...given enough space they can get pretty large.

Bigger fish = more fertilizer 😀

I believe Pachypodium lamerei reach 12-15 feet in habitat.
Yours are well on their way.

These are in the greenhouse full time. If I give them water, you can almost hear them growing.

Beautiful specimens Wes
Any particular fertilizer (besides the cow manure?)

You know what, I do not use cow manure on these. The manure only goes on cycad/dioons.
With these, I kept in the greenhouse over winter and when temps got higher than 60 with lows no lower than high 40's, I put them outside in the landscape. People told me that I was going to kill them cause it was still too cold. But I proved them wrong 😆
So basically, no secret, just LOTS of unfiltered bright direct sunlight and water.

Then they obviously like your potting mix.
Mine has yellowish leaves, and my soil is alkaline about 7.2.
Thinking they might prefer somewhat more acidic conditions?

Steve, are yours in alkaline or acidic based soil?

Barb,
The mix I'm using starts out around 7.0, but will drop to 5.5 - 6 in time due to our water.

I have noticed with mine that the lower leaves will turn yellow when it is not getting enough water, while the newest growth will turn black when it is getting too much.

As usual, Steve, excellent information.
I'll pay more attention to its care in the future.
Thanks.

Wow, look at the size of those things!
And nice colour on that one in the GH.

Maybe you can give me a tip on what I've done wrong.
Leaves are all speckled.

This little guy never was very healthy.
I doubt it'll get as big as the one that got left outside when it froze a couple of years ago.

Barb, Thanks for the comments!
With yours, I remember you checking it last year for mites, etc. Maybe there is something in the potting mix it doesn't like?

I think you're right.
I'll repot it this weekend.

Thank you.

Well it was going from bad to worse.
Finally repotted it.

Roots were dry as a bone:

I think the best thing I could do for this guy would be to send it to the dump.
