Well, when I ordered my Magnolia Tripitala and Asimina Triloba seeds, I missed a few things that are very interesting.
Acer Pensylvanicum - Only "snakebark" maple native to N America. Nova Scotia, west to minnisoda (theoretically up here), south to northern georgia. Understory tree, can take full sun, but does way better in a moist woodland environment.
Acer pseudosieboldianum - From korea, basically a hardy "japanese maple". Can take full sun, but does better in parial shade. Said to be hardy in zone 3, usually zone 4.
Panax quinquefolius - North American Ginsing. Used to be everywhere in eastern N America, but is endangered, and extremely regulated. When I got the email saying my seeds were sent, I got the message (Ginsing have started to germinate, expect some to be sprouted upon arrival !! (same thing as my magnolia seeds, 2 were sprouted!)
Amelanchier alnifolia - Your typical western service berry, or Saskatoonberry. When you grow it from seed the seedlings can vary in size from 4 feet to 30 feet, usually 6 - 8 feet. Birds love em, and most of the time you get a great tasting fruit. Can take semi shade as well when young. Native from alaska east to ontario, south to louisiana.

Yeah, but I cant collect it from the wild. Even collecting seed is illegal. Ginsing used to be everywhere until the europeans got to it. I believe it is native up here, but i do not think ive seen it. The good thing about it, is that the good seed companies do half the work for you! It can take 2 years from seed, and the place I got the seeds from had them cold stored for that long. Upon receiving the "send package" email, I had a note "the ginsing seeds are sprouting, expect some sprouted seed!"
Even cooler. You can actually time harvest perfectly. The plant will produce seed in 2 - 4 years, and is ready to harvest in 5 - 7, meaning you can create a great crop rotation in your garden with it. Ginsing should be treated liek chestnut in the states - A plant that should be re introduced to our ecosystem!
