Thought this was another weed, until I noticed the flowers 😀
Nothing was planted here this year, have been dumping used potting soil from the box stores in this area, so who knows...lol
Can anyone help with an ID?

They appear to be bush hollyhocks, Alcea rosea. They usually don't bloom the first year though and grow 5-6' tall in my yard..
Another possibility is a variety of Mallow, Malva alcea. Some of these bloom the first year and most don't grow above 3'. I have never seen a yellow Mallow.
I like the color of the red bloom. I have a yellow hollyhock in my garden with the pink and midnight purple ones.

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps
Thanks Allen!
Alcea rosea looks like a perfect match, they might have had a start last year and I just didn't notice them.
