I was hiking this afternoon in a forest East of the Arrenal Volcano in Costa Rica. I saw the odd (to me) red banana with an upright flower:

While bananas are grown commercially here, this is not one of them, and of course they are not native. Upslope was a fancy resort. I walked through their lushly landscaped grounds but did not see anything like this, Still, I assume a seed must have washed down-slope from the resort and grew where I saw it.
So, any ideas as to what it is?
Dang postimage!!
Here is the link to it on Facebook:

I'll get it on Flickr when I have a faster connection.
Musa velutina? Maybe just stunted growth and growing in rocks? ?

Thanks! That's it. Stunted as growing under dense canopy. Yes, rocky soil, too, with slope.
