I was so excited (picture's fuzzy, heart was pounding, had to snap it before flower fell off).

Only for one day...and then POOF it's gone. 🙁 Barb

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Steve...love that pink. And look at that mass of healthy leaves!

My hibiscus really kicked into high gear with Schultz "Expert" Gardener (ya, I wish...) 10-60-10.

I'm having a brain fart 😉 . That large leaf...it's on the tip of my tongue
Is it a Taro? or Elephant Ears?

Steve, the elephant ears (I bet) will push the Philodendron into second place for the roof. 😆

Here's my Selloum...as usual, a tad neglected. The air roots just go round and round.
Somewhere in there might be some soil
😳

Barb - How long have you had that one?
A fresh mix and I bet it would be 6' tall by the end of Summer.

.....You are probably right about the Alocasia 🙂 Here's what the rest of it looks like.

Oh God, I was afraid you were going to ask me that.
Are you sitting down?
This is my other 30 year old plant. 😳 Just figured out it's actually 32 years old.

I can explain 😀 😀 😆 😆
Had a family, raised a family, moved 300 miles away, built a house and barn, started a business, et c etc ha ha
dyed my hair, worked full time + overtime for 20 years, planted huge gardens, grew all my baby food, raised and trained 3 dogs....ha ha
are you laughing yet?

OK, the selloum looks like s**t and it should probably be dead.

You folks are gonna kick me out of here for PLANT NEGLECT!

Your Alocasia WILL take over your GH.
Your wife can take a pic of YOU hiding in it in a few years 😆

I wish I had held on to some of the plants I had 10 years ago......You have been moving this one around with you so it must be part of your family 8)

Maybe could benefit from some attention but doesn't look too bad, I was curious as I've read these are slow to develop trunk.

( My definition of neglect is what happens to plants when they are sent to the box stores 😆

Did you sell your plants from 10 years ago?
Or leave them behind when you moved?

My problem as plants get larger and heavier is the cost of the pots.
We Canadians pay so much for plant pots...even the large plastic ones cost up to $40, and the really nice clay planters are up to $100 or $120.

Americans have it made...probably 'coz there's an abundance of clay in many states' soils ??
Bought a beautiful pot years ago in California for $8.00. The same pot was $120.00 at Art Knapps.

Thanks for comment re neglect. 🙂

A lot of my stuff was left behind when moving.............lack of room

I can't find cheap planters here either, all of my bigger stuff is going into 20 gallon laundry tubs. ( anything that will hold soil that I can drill drainage holes in 😀

Post a photo of your selloum later this season, curious to see if it takes off.

Left behind when moving? the lucky folks that moved into your place!!!! 😯

Yup, I've used laundry tubs, even those large plastic garbage cans as planters...

After a while, though, I get sick of looking at plastic (especially for plants that need to be in clay planters), like my 30 year old jade tree. It would've been a travesty to put that beauty in a bucket.

Yup, will post Selloum pic AFTER I spend some time being kind to it... 😳
