It is (was) 30 years old, and always grew like crazy in summer.
But since transplanting into that huge glazed pot (think it's from Vietnam), have suspected something leaching out
of pot that contaminated soil and killed it. Maybe arsenic/lead. These pots are widely sold in the trade.
From now on I'll only use them as a pretty outside pot for another pot that holds the plant.
It's sad to lose something this old...moved from city to city with us and always did well.
It wasn't the dog...she's female! 😉

Sorry to hear of it's demise 😥 Ficus in general seem root hardy, maybe cut the top off and leave it somewhere in hopes of re-sprouting? ( probably not, but might be worth a try)

Thanks Steve for the suggestion.
I had probed and gently squeezed the "bulbous" roots.
They're like "air mushrooms" (soon's you touch them a puff of brown air comes out and it collapses).
Each rootlet is spongy and brown...not a white hair root in sight.
It's a gonner.
