Anyone know more about this plant? Where can I get it in Canada?
Looks very exotic and seems to be rated to zone 7a.

There's a picture of this plant on this page:

Kevin at South Coast gardens usually carries it. I tired one and lost it (100% kill) to a zone 6b winter with protection. This was near Kingston (USDA 4b/5a).

Still, it should be tried in more appropriate conditions.

Yeah. It is at the top of my want-list. south coast is supposed to have it but I have never been there. Thats the only Canadian and Ontarian location I have found to een mention the plant.
Jim in Niagara falls has had one in his yard for quite a few years. It is under 3 feet tall though and slow to grow there in 6a. But he said it outlasted his Loquat tree.

I will be planting a couple of these out in the spring. I'll make sure to document how they fare next winter!

Here's Daphniphyllum Pentantrum which enjoyed a mini freeze back in early December. Crug Farm plants in the UK have around six different species. 😯

BTW the species you will need is Daphniphyllum Himalayense v macropodum which is usually hardy to -15C. Standard Daphniphylum Macopodum comes from Japan and is much more tender even to my area. 😀

nice specimen Andy! Almost looks Schefflera-ish or Rhododendron-ish.
