Let's have some fun...a contest. No prize. Just notoriety. 😉

Bought this Cymbidium orchid 3-4 yrs ago.
Was on a clearance rack, looked awful, no hint of flowers/color remained.
Looks like it'll bloom this winter (yippppeeee), no idea when.

guess what COLOR it'll show on WHAT DATE.
Hold on....don't just say: purple, beige, etc.

THE ONLY RULE: search internet images for cymbidium, and post an image
that shows the color (remember image copyrights!).

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.

also, learned WHY orchids should be planted right to the top of the pot! 😆

Ooooh, that would be a great color!

For the first couple of yrs didn't feed it.
Replanted into 100% large chunk bark mulch (water drains immediately).
On Patio all summers, morning sun.
Every 3-4 wks weak application of "Plant Prod Orchid Fertilizer 25-10-10"

End of summer into the house, south window,
weak application monthly of "Plant Prod Flowering Plant Fertilizer 15-30-15".

Chlorine in tap water dissipates (I hope) by letting watering can sit for a day or two before watering.

Barb, Thanks for the Info!
Noticed mine does not like tap water at all, been using water from the fish tank instead, ( If I can find some barrels, maybe I'll try to set up something to collect rain water this year )

Are you going to re pot that one this season? looks like you could get 2 - 3 divisions at least 8)

Steve,
Several Orchid sites recommend Reverse Osmosis water.
I'd stick with your fishtank water for the nutrients, plus rain water.

Your Cymbidium looks healthy in the GH...
They do require cooler night temps (by about 10 degrees) than daytime to set spikes in Fall.

I replanted mine only this year, plan to leave it to see what happens.
The nursery's potting medium looked very dense, some soil, which is a no-no.

I'm chicken to divide it. Have you?
Before dividing, I think they recommend just twisting the pseudobulbs off 😯

Orchids are really susceptible to fumes, i.e. paint, etc.
I hate painting, so mine's safe 😉

Here it is December 31st.
Still time to guess what colour and when it'll show.
