Ctenanthe pilosa ... a nice variegated plant for shade situations. I seem to recall this is native to Costa Rica and fairly new to cultivation (6 or 7 yrs). I'll be mulching this one during the winter here, to assist in it's survival.

Cheers, Barrie.

great plant. love the variegation. I'll have to do a google search on this one. How big was it to start the summer for you?

Kent in Kansas
where it's cold in winter (always)
and hot in summer (usually)

Not much smaller than you see here. I only aquired this about a month or 6 weeks ago. It does brighten up a shady spot with it's varigation. I don't hold out a ton of hope on this but perhaps a dry mulch will assist. I do have a much larger potted one that will be over-wintered in a frost free spot.

Cheers, Barrie.
