Lowes finally dropped the price on these so I could snag one... 8)

Plant is about 4' tall, somewhat defoliated by the frost but will recover nicely.

Just an Update.......

Looking better as time goes on,

Some new blooms starting too 8)

I am always amazed by your greenhouse pics. The grrenhouse didn't llok that big but you sure have a lot of plants in there.

I've been trying to train this one and have it as the centerpiece of a small planting in the GH.

Back view,

Have several Philodendrons vines running up through it, and it seemed a convenient spot to add some Orchids too.

Here is a Oncidium and a Phalaenopsis

Up top is a Dendrobium and another Phal.

Nice colours on that Brug.
Bet those orchids are nice in bloom, Steve.

Is that a Licuala behind the Brug on the pic headed:
With some warmer weather this is starting to look good
Beautiful fronds.

Barb,
Sadly no, just Alocasia leafs back lit from the window.
( but since you mentioned it, a Licuala would look very nice in that spot.... 😀

BTW ~ On your mystery Palm, any new growth yet?

That Alocasia had me fooled, resembling Licualia's "solid leaf" form (cant remember the name).

Yup, Mystery palm's growing at about the same rate the two main frond edges are going brown 😥

The leaf edges browning could just be from the change in enviroment, ( too wet or too dry could also cause that )
Just curious to see what it turns out to be!

Two of the Orchids did bloom this year 8) I pick these up from the box stores, this time of year they are marked down from $24.99 to $1.00 each, ( the blooms are spent and they need some recuperating, but with a little care they seem to do well)

Just been starting to hang them up in different spots...........

One of the Phals. is starting to grow a "Keiki", This is my first propagated Orchid.

This is the Licuala in the GH, ( on the right) think it's going to be a long wait on this one 🙂

Before I bought the palm, I noticed a clerk trimming brown edges with scissors!
So I rescued it from her 😉
I've stopped watering everything...just mist daily.
Noticed that with the bark mulch in my potting mix, soil stays damp for quite a bit longer.

Phal orchids are so lovely with blossoms on a thin stem...nice that you are growing them the way they would in the wild, on trees, etc. On sale they're $1.00 ??? wow, our Cdn retailers could learn from that!
And how cool that you've propagated one. Congrats! 😀
Your orchids have already bloomed?
Thought most bloomed late to mid-winter.
My Cymbidium is till thinking about it 😕

Plastic shower curtain rings work well, too, in place of twist ties.
And they're a dime a dozen.

I admire the colour of your Licuala; it'll be a beauty, and well worth the wait.
It'll be interesting to see how "solid" the next frond is.

Nice pics, Steve.

I've noticed the scissor thing going on around here too..lol
( thanks for the shower ring idea ! )

The Lowes stores seem to mark things down till either they sell or go in the dumpster, This Phal started blooming in July, I found a picture from this August.

Looking great,as usual Steve.
Watch real careful on the brugmansia,I have to keep them quite away from the rest of my plants, for the spidermites come quick and spread fast before you know it,and they are hard to handle with brugs!

I too have started the orchid thingy!
Just bough a bunch, online from Carmelas Orchids from Hawaii, nice size plants, one even came in bud,can hardly wait until it opens!!!

Thanks Don ! You are right about the Brugmansia, It was pretty well infested when I brought it home. Tried a lot of things, eventually Volck oil seemed to work.

A lot of nice Orchids at Carmelas, some good info too!
Looking forward to your photos 8)
