You'd think after killing 4 or 5 citrus trees in 10 years--with only a big grapefruit left--that I'd stay away from citrus.
But no....

All you need now is a Margarita mix! Nice job! 😆

That company is great. Look em up barb..
I got a "tango" mandarin and an improved meyers lemon, If I havnt killed them yet you should be fine! The mandarin has its winter flowers. Going to have to go to my parents and hand pollinate them. Tango is the type that we get from the store under the brand name "Sweetie"

Jesse,
I was looking for a mandarin, but none available.
So I bought a bag of "Cuties" from California, probably the same as "Sweetie".
After eating 5, no seeds...nada.
Burp. Burp.
I'm going to make my own soil for it next month...rotted leaf mold, etc. 'coz they like acidic soil.
What fert are you going to use?

I havnt used anything besides dehydrated seaweed fert. I order it from richters. They both need bigger pots and im probably going to use sinshine mix. Might toss in some vermiculite for drainage. Any recommendation on pot size or shape? The lemon is in the same pot as your limequot and the manderin is in a tall skinny pot about the size of a 2l pop bottle.

My 5-foot tall grapefruit is in a huge pot...way too large I think because it nearly dies every winter.
I know my Soil mix is wrong, far too loose and certainly the wrong pH (sunshine mix #4, which is good for palms).
Guessing that "fairly" acidic soil is more important than pot size.
"The ideal soil pH for citrus trees, including lemons (Citrus limon), oranges (Citrus sinensis) and grapefruits (Citrus x paradisi), ranges from slightly acidic 6.0 to alkaline 8.0." from here: http://homeguides.sfgate.com/fruit-trees-acid-soils-22822.html
Even my garden soil (7.2) should be better than sterilized Sunshine #4 😕
"A ratio of 5-1-3 NPK is the perfect citrus fertilizer."
from here: http://www.agardenersforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/241260/Citrus_Fertilizer.html
Good luck with yours Jesse!

Good luck, Barb! Citrus appreciate lots of light.

Thanks!

I'll be sure to give it some...when sun actually arrives for more than 5 minutes 😉
