Citrus are extremely easy to germinate from seed. I pulled some seeds out of a few store bought lemons. Soaked them for 48 hours and then planted them in moist potting soil. Germination occurred in about 3 weeks with room temperature and window light conditions. Here is a picture of one of the seedlings. This is the largest one -- others are just breaking the soil surface.
Will be curious to see what these do over the next few years!!

have you attempted Citrus trifoliata (aka Poncirus trifoliata)?

Our six year old grapefruit tree is seven feet tall and about 2 inch diameter trunk at base

Nice work. You should have a pot in your kitchen. Just toss lemon/citrus seeds into the pot when you're cooking; you'd be surprised how many seedlings you'll end up with! 😆

Just a heads up... Be prepared for oddball seedlings, seedlings that lack chlorophyl, and slow guys as well. Also, dont let them dry out at all, I wiped out half my citus seedlings that way (again, dont leave them wet)
Good job though! Apparently key limes have a good chance of producing really close to the parent!

I have grown citrus seeds before I had a large seed grown citrus from a Valencia Orange but it was 7 yrs old and never did anything and was a big thorny thing. I am not sure if it was ever going to produce fruit and even if it did it would most likely be of inferior quality. I got rid of it though, I just didn't have room for it anymore. I still have a Nagami Kumkuat that I bought, and I have grown Satsumas and Key Limes from seed before but I gave those seedlings away. I recently bought some seeds of Poncirus trifoliata "Flying Dragon" going to try to plant those within the next few weeks. 🙂 I heard that Satsuma's come true from seed and so do Key Limes, and im guessing some kinds of lemons. I know Oranges and Grapefruits wont because they are hybrids.
