Don, Things did well here this year, ( besides the fact that I ridiculously over planted things in the greenhouse 😀

How did you in ground Sago do? Your robusta recover OK from the freeze?

Steve,
The sago is holding it's own,but only one flush all season long,I've built a mini greenhouse over the sago and the trachycarpus
fortuni,and sabol minor .
The wash, rob.did finally start coming back, about end of July and first of August,I went ahead and dug them up,and brought inside,I just didn't feel they came back enough,to make it thru this winter, but I did leave a few others that are only 9 months on going, and already reaching the 2ft tall mark, alot easier to cover up as well.
The robusta's that I dug up are over 4 ft tall.
My little pindo doubled in the ground, and will try to cover with plastic, but no other heat source, will see if it is as tuff as they say it is!
My waggies have done real well too,but have done much better since September on then they did all summer long, they enjoy the cooler weather for sure, will cover with black plastic 35 gallon trash containers only on the coldest nights.
The ficus with the aerial roots you gave me,is about 7ft tall now and really looking great.
The red tiger seedlings like the one I gave you and grew so big,I left in the ground, with a wire cage around, filled with wood chips and a 2x8 poly tuff plastic, greenhouse material around the trunk, looks wierd, but hey it might work, the trunks are about 6 ft in length, and I cut all the leaves off.
Have you got a CID palm in the ground?
I wished I 'd had one to test this winter, well I have a couple just never got them in the ground early enough to get the rooots established!!!

Don, I have a couple CIDP's ready to go in next Spring , another Robusta, and maybe a couple Sago's.
Your Sago probably spent most of the season growing roots, it might be all set to take off next year! Good to hear your Robusta recovered, mine has regrown to about the same size it was at the start of last Winter.
( hopefully next season will kinder to both of ours )

The Banana's did well this year! I didn't want to take any chances, so they are in the cellar 😀

Besides the Robusta's, left a couple Livistona chinensis in ground with leaf cages covered in frost cloth, also about 15 Coonties , ( Z.floridana), I do have them a little better covered this time.

Seen a couple photos of your new GH and additions, they look good! I have enough used windows to add on to mine now, so hopefully with some mild weather it will be done by Spring.

Steve

At least 12' X 12' , and as tall as I can make it!
Are you using any of the the corrugated polycarbonate panels for the roof on yours ?

Yes the polycarbonate that you can buy at lowes called poly tuff, not all of that poly is made for roof, some are just made for walls, and that stuff won't hold up to hail were poly tuff will!
Expensive too!
I bought the smoke instead of the clear just for the fact I didn't want to mess with a shade cloth.

Good point about using the tinted vs. shade cloth, ( I hadn't given that much thought )
Going to go see what our Lowes has in stock.

See what you mean about the prices 😯
With just a roof to do, not too bad..... I have a pile of glass patio doors for the walls.

If you just have the roof, than I'd say go for it!!!
Can't remember if the clear tuff poly was any cheaper than the smoke, which you could always make white wash to put on!
