Im always on the hunt for cheap plants, yet exotic. Lots of times im lead to the grocery store, to hopefully find something interesting to grow. Ive found taro and ginger, the usual, but ive recently found out you can grow sugarcane from the stalks, just in water. In the summer the growth should be pretty fast, so im hoping it will be good for an annual a houseplant, or both. Im also trying lemon grass in the same manner.
I found a nice false aralia today as well. Ive never had one, so its going to be interesting. I hear these grow fast as well and adapt to pretty much low light indoors. A friend also gave me a massive aloe vera.

Wow look how small everything is!
So it grew what 6 feet in a season? Thats more then I expected!

I have seen those sugar canes at the store a few times but never really knew how to start them. Love that false aralia, I have been looking for one that color for awhile now.
