Barb,
this photo is for you. It shows my wife out mowing this afternoon.
This hackberry (Celtis) was a little too much even for her big tractor.

I told her that Cats climb better than Fords. 😆

Holy cow, Erik!!! 😯
Now attach a 100-foot polyester rope to the tree about where the bucket is, back up that tractor, go to the right side (50 feet away), and pull like the dickens.
I know...I know...the only reason she stopped climbing the tree was when the tractor attachment dug into the ground 😆 😆
W deserves a rest with a cold one!

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
Barb,
we have a fantastic neighbor to the north who immediately came to the rescue.
I'm still learning YouTube (for Scott) but got this short clip up:

Yes, she needs a cold one or three. She had to go run an errand, but I'll pour her beer when she gets back. Or a pina colada, her pool-side favorite. 8)

I didn't think W needed a rescue...yet 😆
Hope the neighbor ran into the tree (*grin*) when the tractor was moved.
Thanks for the video and pic.
Barb
ps--that's a really nice tractor, mine's a baby in comparison.

This is W,
gotta admit I never knew a tractor could climb a tree that fast....went up over 5 feet in less than a second and my only thoughts were....CRAP this thing is going over!!!!! I shut it off, flipped the gear into neutral and jumped OFF as fast as I could!!!! Took a few minutes for me to even think of calling Erik or the neighbor for help, just stood there shaking and thinking of the patient's I have taken care of that rolled a tractor and didn't survive (sucks to be a nurse sometimes). I am grateful to all the powers that be for the brush hog wedging into the ground and preventing the tractor from flipping over. Equally blessed for a wonderful neighbor that never seems ruffled by the crazy things I do and can bail me out. That tractor and I have been through a lot together in the past 12 years....I've advised her to NOT climb trees in the future or we will have to discuss parting ways!
Best wishes!
W
thank goodness the attachment kept it from flipping backwards.
Tractor accidents do happen quickly; our previous "old blue" lost its brakes coming down a steep hill.
Suddenly...no brakes, picking up speed.
Jammed the bucket down hard into the ground...hell of a way to rototill, but it did stop after a hair-raising 60 feet.
Knees were jello; thank goodness for adrenalin response, certainly faster than my brain 😆
Glad you're OK, and that the neighbor is so helpful.
Meanwhile, Erik's taking a video 😆 😆 knowing we'd get a kick out of seeing it.

..hell of a way to rototill,
😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
I was going to ask(also)if the neighbor went ahead and pushed the tree down.
You know....while your here and all,
could ya? 😈
