I grew up near here in Kelowna when I was 13 from Vancouver. Just amazing how this city has grown. I`m going for a job interview for part time. This is going to be so COOOL.

It's certianly going to be a unique project, one that will attract lots of attention from high end clients looking for that life style. Are you applying for any of the garden landscape jobs? That would be amazing to over see a project like that, even just to assist in the design or planting and hardscape phase. Best of luck!

Cheers, Barrie.

Barrie even if they don`t pay me no problem. I really like the fact of being there from the get go and putting my 2 cents worth as to what they plant. Some nice Bismarkia nobilis would be a start. I`ll also try and get some Trachy`s outdoors.

An acre-and-a-half tropical indoor garden??? 😯
Let me know if you need someone to drool over the palms, John!

very nice. I'd love to see the inside of the conservatory some day.

The whole concept of living like that doesn't appeal to me in the least. I'm sure they'll sell well to certain types but I need some property to work with and not be cooped up in a glass enclosure.

Cheers, Barrie.

Nor me, Barrie, but can't wait to see it!
It's gardeners (like all of us) who will know how much work actually goes into this project.

But in the middle of an Okanagan winter (even mild ones like this year), I don't think I'd mind at all visiting the conservatory, paying $5 for the privilege to get into their tropical paradise, sitting for two hours listening to a waterfall, sipping a $3.00 coffee and watching the palms grow. 'specially when it's snowing sideways outside 8)

I'd have to sell my firstborn to afford the downpayment 😆 😆

But once the last of the snow's gone...I'm itchin to get outside and poke around.
I couldn't enjoy one season year round (i.e. Hawaii...nice but who wants to mow lawns 12 months?!)

I pretty much have to mow the lawn 9 to 10 months so I can handle mowing the lawn for 12.

John, I can't wait to see this place.

Wes, if you saw the size of my lawn, you'd be on my side 😆 😆

Hey we could all meet at The Conservatory next winter to savour its palm delights! 😀

Barry, Wes and Barb. I would not buy one of these condos myself but I am with Barb as to using it at as escape from winter. Soon we will be looking to move south for the winter Costa Rica or Belize.

Meeting there next winter sounds like a great idea.

I haven't cut grass since 2001. Instead I have rototilled and pulled weeds, rototilled and pulled weeds, rototilled and pulled weeds 😥 😥 😥

This year I hope that my health holds and I will be able to finish the yard. Then I will have a 15' x 15' lawn that will need mowing about once a month, no watering or fertilization. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Allen

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps

John,
I'd hate to see the prices there anyway!
Another snowbird ... the higher Canadian dollar will help with that.

Allen, sounds like mowing would be a tad easier?
Hate to tell you this, but rototilling brings up a whole new layer of long buried weedseeds 😕

Hope your health holds, too, for another wonderful season of palms outside.
