I have some bamboo from Jim in Niagara growing in this here pot. I reuse soil from up-potting and failed seed sowing attempts, so I often get volunteers.
In this pot is a volunteer Fragaria vesca, I know that, but a new plant is growing between the alpine strawberry and the bamboo. It grew quickly and has a reddish stem with elongated dark glossy green leaves unaffected by our hard frost of -2c.
here it is

You could ask the guy you got it from. The strawberry looking things could be a "weed" which name escapes me right now. Not sure on the other.
