Barb,
I meant to ask you.... .you said you just pruned "up" your phoenix. Is that something that should be done regularly? My doesn't really have much of a trunk on it. More bush like. Is that something that encourages them to be more tree like? With a nice trunk. I only cut off the dead or badly yellowed fronds. I'd appreacitate some input on that.

I just like the look of boots on a trunk, and since it was growing like crazy, thought I'd get it UP a bit.
Otherwise it's awfully wide before it gets tall.
not much room for the other stuff beside it.
Nothing severe, mind you, just a couple of fronds off each "side" of each trunk.
When brought home in October:

I hope others will chime in if I'm way off base. Stuff is growing like mad in the warm house!
