When my wife was hired by Churchill 5 1/2 years ago their stock was worth about $4 and falling. By the time that she had cleaned up one of their division's accounting mess 8 months later(and they fired her because she was too expensive), the stock was down to about $2. They have the same incompetent senior management today but their involvement in oilfield and industrial construction has kept them in business. Their stock closed at $11.24 on Friday.

I think that we had better sell while we can and before they actually have to compete for business or someone reviews their financials.

I am VERY new to this stock thing, but I would hold until I saw a "good" drop off or you got word of the financial statements going to review.
OR
I would hold until they got to maybe $15, then sell half of them and watch the rest.

Thanks for the input. My wife originally said that she would sell when it reached $10 and I laughed at her. We will watch for a while. Natural gas exploration is really slow and housing prices in Northern Alberta have actually dropped about 5%.

Here in Edmonton, the signs are starting to show. We now have a rental vacancy rate, 1.1%. Our housing inventory has increased to about 45 days from 25 days in the past few months and houses in our neighborhood are taking up to 3 weeks to sell. Housing prices only went up 5% last month. Industrial and commercial construction seems to have reached it's peak with the city and province canceling projects when the prices come in badly inflated. But the most important sign-- McDonalds has stopped paying $13/hr and is down to as low as $9/hr starting wage. They don't have enough staff and what they do have is under 16 or people who used to be unemployable. And, for the first holiday in years, the oil companies did not screw us an extra $.10 per litre on gas and diesel. But the price of oil is under $70 per barrel and the price of gas is over $1 per litre. Don't start feeling sorry for the oil companies as they are already screwing us out of $.25 per litre ($1 per US gal.).

It is nice to see my house increase in value from $130,000 to $430,000 but I have no intention of selling for at least 10 years. I am tired of grocery, building material and other high demand products going up 10% or more each year while we live on an almost fixed income. I also got good service at the clinic where I get my sleep apnea supplies Friday, and was shocked. Having every retailer short of staff and what people they do have either overworked, untrained and/or uncaring is very stressful.

Can I interest you in some lily seed from my first attempt at breeding. It will take several years to flower.

I crossed a white trumpet with the lily whose pic is attached. I was hoping to add some size and perhaps to get an out facing flower. The white lily grows to 5' tall and is the pollen parent.

Who knows what they will look like when they grow. That is the fun part of breeding lilies.

The North American Lily Society is having it's convention here starting July 12. If there is any particular lily that you would like I can try to get it for you.

I have a couple of Potentilla nepalensis Helen Wilmott seedlings that might slip through customs or some bush hollyhock seedlings with a midnight purple flower ( and maybe a purple central ruffle).

OR, if I can get 2 of my C. panzies to germinate, I can try to sneak one across the border to you.

PS $14.16 and rising. Who would have guessed. Too bad we only have 1000 shares.

Here's hoping. I now have 5 seeds that have cracked since I started using Steve's method. Now all we need is a sign of growth.

Man I tell you, I cracked 5 Taitungensis seeds about a month and a half ago and they have not done ANYTHING. I suppose patience is the virtue, but DANG!!!

We sold 300 shares at $14.80 on Friday. The stock has dropped to $13.50 as of today. I expect that it will recover.

I wish that I could send you a Panzi. They are still cracked but no sign of life yet. 😥

I will keep you posted. I am still checking the seeds every other day.

We are in gradual liquidation mode, although we may dump this stock over the next few months depending on it's performance. We are doing our retirement traveling now as my physical health still sucks. One of our friends were saving to travel When they retired. 14 months ago he was diagnosed with brain cancer. They only had about 4 months before he was too ill to travel. He died in June/07 aged 58.

This stock will pay for part of Vegas this fall as well as Hawaii this winter and probably Vegas again in the spring. It should also cover a stair lift for me. We didn't plan on Hawaii but it is falling into our laps and the extra profit on Churchill is enough to pay for it. We also didn't plan on 2 more trips to Vegas this soon, but our kids thought that they could pressure us into paying for their airfare as well as the Marriott. ## that. If we have to pay the whole shot, we will go.

After that we will slow a little and take one serious trip per year.

I appreciate the stock tip Ryan. If we liquidate Churchill, we will hire someone to do the fascia and eavestrough and start on other renos a little sooner.

Kansas, we invested in stocks long term. I don't speculate on the short term. My experience shows that the broker usually makes more than I do when I take short term positions.

Now; back to watching the Panzi seeds. 😉

EXACTLY!!!!!
Short term, at least to me is a waste. Ride that sucker out and see what happens.
BTW, I am going to Vegas next month. Have fun and please enjoy it.
Terrible about your buddy. I am on the Jefferson County Cancer Fundraising Board because my Uncle has had cancer off & on fr the last 10 years. I just hope he doesn't quit fighting it as it always seems to come back 🙁
I donate countless hours to raising funds for research and we also help those who financial means can't cover. I D.J. dances, M.C. Concerts, help with Auctions, and other stuff. I really enjoy it and feel like I am elping to beat this stuff.
I too had a very close friend pass this last year, he was only 37 years old with a 4 year old son that really never saw his daddy in his prime as he was sick most of the child & his time together, spending most of his time in Nebraska recovering from Marrow surgery.
