Hi Everyone,
My my name is Chris, I live in Toronto, Canada, and I was referred to the site by another
palm tree enthusiast. I am looking forward to sharing my own experience growing palm
trees, and learning new techniques on how to grow & winterize palms in a northern climate.
I currently enjoy experimenting with trachycarpus fortunei and sabal species which
I have had the most success with over the years indoor and outdoor.

Your washy is doing fine :-). In your area is a little warmer than in Markham, but I'll gladly share my experience with you.

Hey Tavi, that's good to hear, did you end up planting it? Or will you wait until next year?

No more washys in the ground for me. I had one that suffered after a bad spring and it did not move for the last two summers. I'll stick with trachys in the ground for now.
This is how mine looked 2 years ago when I opened it up (to early):

Have you tried any sabal minor's in the ground?

I have one, and it's not growing. It's not dying but it's a very, very slow grower. I read that they are very sensitive to any move.

Have you tried any sabal minor's in the ground?
Hey Toronto Palms,
I've overwintered Sabal Minors rather easily here in our Zone 6 Burlington. They are actually stronger (in my opinion) than Needle palms.
They are actually flowering now and have produced seed for the last 2 summers.
If you like them, I still have a 7 gallon available if you like. I can send a pic.
