New to the site, just became a hearty palm nut. I have purchased two windmills from Rice road nursery(3 and a 4 footer) going to plant them may 24, 2012. I'm in 5a/5b zone, going to copy what coconut mike has done in terms of winter protection.

Thanks oppalm, I can't wait to start my garden this spring. I will surely need some tips from the folks on this forum. Will post some pics soon of my windmills.

Welcome to the site, Rob. I'm from southern Ontario myself, and have family near your area (Wasaga Beach). I think that with minimal protection conbined with the snow cover that you guys get, needle palms could eventually do well in your area too.

Cameron.

I was thinking that the snow blanket we get here may be a bonus in terms of insulating the covered palms.
