I am not so new,
I have the love for palms. Trachicarpus f, more recently gifted a seedling of Manipur. I also have two Cycas revolutas, one just flushing....the other refuses to budge 🙄
Welcome to everyone.
😀
Zombia,
Welcome!
Lots of knowledge about trachycarpus here...just not from me.
Where do you live? Can you upload or link to garden pictures?
Erik
Sorry Erik, all in pots,
Hoping to move to a new place in the very near future so no point in planting to dig up. I came close to bidding for a new home this week, right home just in the wrong place.
Great to hear that Trachicarpus is discussed here, soon I will be lkooking to protect my palms
Thanks for the welcome Erik!
I am in the UK.
Oh, and here I was about to try to sell you my farm 😥
😆
Pots make a lot of sense; I'm digging up a bunch of palms that barely made it through winter and potting them. It is fun to try to overwinter a few, but it quickly gets ridiculous as this photo shows:

Hey Erik,
Very cool shelters. At least they are not too open to the elements.
You can plant pots for the summer, then take them out but they would be very dirty pot bottoms then..yuck! When I move I will plant the palms cus I heard they are safer in soil than pots, pots freeze so that makes sense.
I did ok in a sense last year. I triple bagged my Cycas, then toggle tied at the bottom then brought them under a cover which devides two bungalows. The only thing that happened was the fronds went yellow, still are. We hit -13 and on sunny days as the snow on the shed roof melted Icicles formed on the fleece.
I was stupid and left the Trachicarpus (small) uncovered and it pulled four spears at Easter time so I threw it in the recycle. I have a belter now. I also lost a UK Cordyline. I was at the kitchen window one day in winter and saw it litereally fall to one side.
Buy your farm, I don't even have the deposit...HAHAAHAHA
😀

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.
