Anyway, very nice PDP! Great price, too. They are inexpensive here this time of year as well as nurseries don't want to take care of them over winter. but that is an especially nice one and well worth twice the price.
Tip: do not let her freeze! 😳

The Palms North posting "buttons" that Jay has for us are wonderful (don't need to know HTML code); it's worked superbly for years.
If I didn't have a paid Flickr account with 5,000 photos, I'd tell Flickr to shove it--as many people have.
Drives me nuts.

Nice Phoenix! I've never tried Flickr before, but with Photobucket the HTML and IMG codes are right under every photo, so all you have to do is copy/paste them into your message.

Yes photobucket is good. And a couple of years ago, Jay (our admin) offered image hosting on this site, too which would've been really convenient had I not already had thousands of pics on the other one.

I just can't change horses mid stream. 😐
I'll get the bloody thing figured out, probably with Jay's help.

Nice Phoenix! My neighbor purchased a couple HUGE ones this spring and placed them next to their pool which they never use. Too bad they are already toasted from cold. I can only imagine they cost big $$ since they were in 30+/- gallon containers.

I don't know why I'd even ask this Tim, but do you have a picture of them? (as tho' I like looking at dead palms...sheesh)

I find PDP's do particularly well indoors, low care, and don't need the best spot in a south window either.

I planted a PDP I bought for US$15 last March and it grew great. I should have dug and potted it last week. I guess I still will, out of guilt, but know I waited too long (photo below; new Sabal "Louisiana" in background for foliage colour comparison....).

Thanks for Phil's PDP article, hadn't seen that one.
His photos show nice single specimens, too...very attractive.
I'm on his newsletter mailing list, he does a great job of educating folks.
One day I'd love to see his nursery in So. Cal.

Oh Erik, your PDP...go ahead dig it up, cut off fronds, put it in the ballroom but I think it's too late.

Well, it was $15 from a reputable nursery as they were embarassed by its condition at the end of winter. It did VERY well and everything you see there is my doing. Then I did it in. 😳
I'll try again.
As for this one, I'll do as you suggest but I agree--I killed it. Slight chance of recovery, but I can use the exercise.

I'm glad to finally find an internet link you did not already have--that's got to be a first!

Phil Bergman emailed me today to let me know he is about to start a 15% off sale, so check his site out of you want to order something. All I'm looking for now is a male C. radicalis, which he doesn't have. 🙁

The fronds on that Sabal are not really that erect. I have them tied and staked as they were suffering from my intense wind, which they were not used to. I'll set up more substantial wind protection for it soon. Obviously I'm pleased that it has not suffered the same fate as the large Butia and Sabal (other threads), knock on wood....

I'd like to add that the PDP is not fussy indoors for winter. In fact they survive with marginal light. They also are very easy to plant in springtime and dig up in fall. they never seem to miss a beat when dug up. Go figure. sounds like the perfect palm for northern palm growers.

The PDP shouldn't get too dry indoors in winter (if I recall what killed my last one).
It got tucked away and forgotten until it was too late. 😥

Single specimens--rarely available--are gorgeous palm trees too, really feathery and airy looking.

I bet your tropicals did great this summer, Kent.
