Any ideas what i could safely expose my pretty large (20 gallon pot) Dypsis Lutescens Areca palm to this winter? I am thinking of leaving it ont he sun porch with lots of other stuff. Porch averages 40 to 65 during sunny days and 30s at night but no wind.....Thanks everyone.

Mike,

If this is it http://www.floridata.com/ref/d/dyps_lut.cfm, it's only a Zone 10/11 palm.

Probably wouldn't like the 30's at night.

Barb

EDIT: Yet this site says it could take it that cold http://www.florida-palm-trees.com/areca-palm-tree/

Good luck with it.

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.

I think they can take some 30's as I have seen them planted outside in Southern CA without protection but the cool days on top of it may be a problem.
