I go into Rona pretty frequently. Today when i walked in, to my delight, I found this beuty. It is a spindle palm standing about 5 feet tall. It was only 17 dollars so I could not resist. They also had foxtails and triangle palms. I guess you never know what you will find at these big box stores, and of course, the staff have no clue what kind of palms they have.

Hey Norm,

I picked up a beautiful Foxtail palm at Rona for $37.00. I also picked up a huge 4 cane Yucca Elephantipes (house plant) for $37.00. I saw a similar one at a local nursery priced over $100.00.

Too bad the Rona in Vaughan didn't have nice spindle palm like the one you picked up.

Thanks
Phil

Phil, Rona has great plants every now and then. I saw the foxtails as well, cheaper than what Home Depot sells the same one for. Anyhow, I am currently working in London and picked them up aty the Rona there. If you would like one let me know and i will pick you up one, as I am currently working there during the week and in Markham on weekends.

Great find Norm!! I have about 30 different palms and the Spindle is my favorite. Great indoors or out!!

I shouldn't say this, but I found 2 triple trunked Foxtails in the clearence rack at my local box store last weekend. I got both of them and a 6' Majesty for $10 @. 😀

Not the pot I was expecting........

Cali-wanna-b, that sounds lie a great deal. My next purchase will be one of the foxtials that i see there, but need to figure out where it would go. Do your foxtails grow well indoors?

Norm,

Thanks for the offer but I won't burden you right now. In regards to foxtail, I have had mine for a couple of months and so far it has been doing very well considering it is my north facing entrance. I really like this palm.

Thanks
Phil

Norm

So far my foxtails have been outdoors. I have a large SE facing bay window where they will spend the winter. They will get 5-6 hours of direct light a day which I think should be fine.

Keep your eye on the foxtail. Most stores mark down there tropicals at the end of august. You can get some really sweet deals!!!!
