Due to the relatively mild weather we've been having, I've been able to let my palms go an extra month without protecting them! Since they're small t. fortunei, I usually protect them when it gets down to -10 C (14 F) or lower. We've had a couple nights of -9 C in November, but the t. fortunei are doing great. The only reason I'm protecting them now is because I'm going to Toronto for a week, although the long-term weather looks mild too.

I didn't take any recent pics of the palms, but they're a few inches larger than this now:

I just did the same thing as usual to protect: mulch on the bottom, dry leaves on top, and covered by recycling bags:

My O. humifusa also flowered for the first time earlier this year:

I cut open the three fruits, and got about 150 seeds between them!:

Cameron.

As a warm-up pic, here are some Phoenix, washies, cycads, and Delonix in Luxor, Egypt:

Cameron, nice that your weather's been mostly mild so far.
Didn't you folks just get 3 inches of rain? The "rain train" at both coasts 8) (we got only a "spit"...damn mountains west of us).
Trachy juniors will appreciate that plastic cover if that much rain is occurring before serious cold hits.

Oooh, that warm up pic feltwonderful. 😀

Congrats on the nice cactus that flowered!
I've never seen cactus seeds...look easier to clean than palm seeds.

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
