Steve now I know why you never invite me over for dinner - there is no place to sit in the dining room.

We are having the family Christmas at our house this year and my wife has already layed down the rules about plants in the house for winter and expecially nothing in the dining room. It seems a bit early to me to be worrying about Christmas but my wife is serious. My basement greenhouse just got bigger and more crowded. sidebar - I was in KMart last weekend and they have their Christmas displays and lights up already. Bought a nice end of season lime tree and PygmyDatePalm for $7.50 total (for both).

Found this wall fountain marked down at Lowes to $15.00, figured it might be a good spot to put some orchids,etc.

Started hauling stuff into the garage last night and setting up the green room in the basement. Things have really gotten much bigger just over summer.

That Robusta sure sprang back after what it went through when someone unplugged the heater last winter.
It's going to want a taller winter house soon. 😆

Nice deal on a great fountain.
It'll provide great humidity in the GH.
I looked at HD fountains (hoping for a bargoooon).
They were $129.00 all the way to $299.00.

I was using 2 ceramic heaters for the first couple winters, they did okay, but had trouble keeping up when it dropped below 10* (in the original 12' X 12' section)

Used this heater last winter, it's a 240V, 4000 Watt unit. Really cranks out the heat, also cheaper to run than the other two heaters combined.

Natural gas/propane would be the least expensive to heat with, if you are looking to just keep things above freezing, then one or two small electric heaters should work. Also make sure to have a backup heater available if you lose power.

Caulking your GH as airtight as possible will help reduce the heating load, you can also use pool covers, bubble wrap, etc, to help insulate.
