Weird green mass growing

I tried to germinate some Ficus seeds. They didnt take, but some weird green thing is growing in it. After talkin to cameron, I thought I should post a pic or 2. Im sorry for the quality of the pics...... I couldnt get a sharp picture of it to save my life.... Any one have any idea what it is??

Not as far as I know. But the seeds were wild collected, and ficus seeds are small. Its possible that some tree fern or fern spores got in. Thats what I thought it was..

I looke up gametophyte, and it looks very very very similar to it. Theres no way to figure out exactly what it is at this point is there??

Its been growing for about.. 4 - 5 months so far.

You may need to mist spray them so you can induce fern fertilization.

I couldnt frow tree ferns when i tried..... should be interesting to see if a) it works and b) what it is in the end.

I should mist it with water.... That website says to mist it with sterilized water.. is this fully nessasary??

Depends on how bad you want them to live-
but maybe you'll get away without needing too.

Perhaps some distilled water at least.

It isnt a problem for me to boil the water.... im not that lazy LOL

I just wanted to make sure. Ill give em a mist today.

This is one of three tree ferns that started growing on its own out of the drainage hole in a cymbidium pot that sat next to some large tree ferns.
