I have some things over a year now with no luck 😐
They are still good but are keeping their own schedule.

My best luck is with fresh seed, Every now and then I can get a bag with the fruit still attached. Some of my best memories are taking a day to clean a batch of seeds. Hyphaene seeds have a smell much like Brugmansia's in bloom. Queen Palms are more of a overpowering sticky sweet smell, Livistona's are lightly scented but the easiest I"ve found to clean, etc.

Also buying in quantity helps a lot 8) Out of a 100 seed lot, 50% will usually germinate in short order with the rest 3 -6 months later. ( This is of course assuming relatvely fresh seed )

This place here is a good source of seed lots,

Over a year!!!
Well now I don't feel so bad after all,I got anxious and dug up one of the seeds, looks as it did the day I planted it.
Oh well,it's a good wait if they do germinate!
Thanks

Kansas. Cycad seed are poison as well. Be careful removing the flesh. If the flesh gets under your fingernails it irritates your skin like hell.

Evey year we hear of dogs dying from eating the seeds.

Do they usually stink too? My GOD these still stink in the medium.
BTW, my Taitungensis/Guinenhouensis (sp?) cross popped seeds are starting to put up a flush. What Mr. Chumley (chumleycycads.com) told me about these are true, fast growers for Cycads.

Lazz,
You brought up a great poiint regarding plant toxicity, most Cycad seeds and foliage contains neurotoxins in varying amounts, ( It is interesting to note the Native Americans in Fl developed ways to deal with this in their processing of Coonties for starch )

Some Palm fruits also contain calcium oxalate, which can also cause a painful experience. Most palms are non toxic, but it is always a good idea to research what you have.
