Some more additions to this Winters projects.

This is my best spot for germination during the Winter, (Our heat is an old style convective heater) Up by the ceiling stays about 85* at night and about 70* during the day. Some remodeling and central heat planned for next year...Will be sorry to lose this spot 😥

Might be just dried out a bit, let them soak for a couple days.

I once again bow to the MASTER!!!! Checked them this morning and of the 16 seeds I got, yesterday 12 floated.
This morning ALL had sunk. So hopefully you were right and they were just dried out.

I've had good luck with some things, not sure I would consider myself "Mastering" much of anything yet 😆

The people with Garages, Houses and Yards full of specimen sized Palms far north of me are the ones I hope to learn from.

I think we here in Kansas have a good start on growing some nice sized palms. With a little help from mother nature and some continued mild winters, maybe just maybe in 2-4 years we can start showing off our specimen sized palms. It appears we have a nice cross section of Kansas covered. Somebody should be able to get something growing.

Did you guys see the new prospective zone map for a while out? I think it was 2020 we might be a 6A and 2040 a 7A? Long time out I know, but just kind of interesting.

Steve could you please PM me your recipe for soil. I am having too many different soils and I need to settle for one. Looks like you use Perlite and Wood chips???

Just a decent quality container mix and about 20-30% Perlite mixed in.
In my case it has been the 3 cubic foot bag of Sta-Green container mix , ( Lowe's) , with 2 small bags of Perlite.
The composition of the mixes available at the box stores tends to change each year. So next year it may be a different brand 😆

For Cycads and things that need a quicker draining mix just add more Perlite. Vermiculite will work too, Perlite is just cheaper here.
