Well here goes again (despite Dypsis seeds not doing anything yet).
Fantastic variation in seed sizes.
Left to right, top row:
Brahea armata, Copernicia hospita.
Bottom row:
Brahea sp. (Super silver), Bismarckia nobilis (silver)
Got them from rarepalmseeds.com. Delivery 1 month exactly from order date. Payment by credit card.
Am a little worried about them sitting in a -4 C community mailbox for at least 20 hours...
Tell me if I should chuck them in the garbage because of cold exposure π₯ .
Otherwise I'll give it a shot.
The Bismarckia seeds are as big as walnuts. π

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
I still had Butia seeds germinate after taking a bad chill.... So don't toss them, it's always worth a try π
( Hard to say if the embryos froze or not, the packaging and seed coat offer some insulating qualities)
The best luck I've had with Bismarckia is a 3 - 5 day soak and then somewhere close to 100*F / 38C

Thanks Steve...had seeds arrived about 10 days earlier, they wouldn't have frozen.
These varieties apparently aren't easy to start...
Won't know if it was the cold or my inexperience if they don't make it...probably both π
It'll keep me interested in something during winter!

Any of your seeds germinated yet?
Wes North Vancouver Zone 8b/9a
Keats Island BC Zone 8a
Palm Springs CA Zone 9b/10a
Nope, these three are typically very slow germinators (if at all) π
I sure know how to pick 'em π
All are in baggies in lightly misted perlite, in a seldom used corner of the basement.
At my age, I'll probably forget I have 'em π
