Just received my copy.

It just irks me that FRESH seed of Bismarckia silver, etc. etc. is NOW available from RPS.
I bet they won't/shouldn't ship to sub-zero destinations in January.

But by the time the cold weather is over, the seeds aren't fresh anymore.
Is there an answer to the problem?

Yes, there is an answer. It is, "Ortanique"
RPS is HORRIBLE with customer service and the seeds they send are either good or horribley old.
"Ortanique" has fresh seeds and they are in the U.S. and have the best customer service I have ever had with seed companies.

Oh!
My RPS order took about 4 weeks, not too bad.

Would Ortanique ship to Canada in January ?
Seeds may be fresh, but they'd freeze in the mailbox (or courier van, or airplane, etc.)

The lesser of two evils?
Buying FRESH seed that'll freeze in the mail? 😐
Buying 4-month old seed that mails in above freezing temps? 😐

The bad thing is, thr RPS seeds will probably not crack. Lemme know if they do.
Ortanique wraps the seeds well and cold mailbox shouldn't hurt them as well as they take care of them. Believe me, Ortanique will take care of you.

Okay, Wes, will keep that in mind.

But it'll be a year before I know if the Bismarckia seeds (and Copernicia, and Butia) got harmed
by a -minus C mailbox.

By then I'll be spitting nails and will NEVER go the seed route again. 👿
