Livistona decora, formerly L.decipiens

One of the nicest of the Livistonas.
More info; http://www.pacsoa.org.au/palms/Livistona/decipiens.html

Seeds will be soaked for 2 - 3 days, and then into the propagator.

Steve

Awesome Steve ! I just picked up 3 of these that are about 6' total height each for $100 each. I'll get some pics up later now that I have my new system up & running.

They are already in the ground. Pots are just around them.

Looks like you've got one black sheep there, Steve 😆
That propagator seems to be doing very well for you.
Is that the converted fridge you're using?

Nice that these palms seem to love moist soil, doing particularly well on riverbanks.

Great buys, Todd.

How hardy do you think this palm really is?
In your opinion what is the hardiest of the Livistona species?

Wes we have both Livistona chinensis & Livistona decora growing here without much problems. I believe both are rated at 18 F. maybe lower. Steve sent me some small Saribus green form which I am going to put in the ground soon.

You are having problems with both these species?
Obviously if you are having problems then there is no hope that they will grow here.
With protection I know Livistona chinensis will grow here. There is a very large one here but it is in a very good midroclimate and will eventually out grow the area if it hasn't already.
